  • Great! Thanks for posting. Not trying to joke or diss, but doesn't he kind of look and sound a little like a white seeing Stevie Wonder?

  • Matthew's voice is as powerful as it is effortlessly soulful, a voice reminiscent of Donny Hathaway, one of the greatest souls singers of all time. Hes no mere imitator, but a gifted singer able to go from soulful low reigned in tones, to ringing higher range tones in the blink of an eye, or to tear right through your heart, like his song "Love". I would love to have seen him a duet with Donny Hathaway or Kenny Loggins. White or black, these boys have soul, they were born with it.

  • @hyattwarris I have Stevie Wonder's Talking Book album (You Are the Sunshine of My Life and Superstition are both from it). I was surprised that a couple of songs on it have a sort of rock feel to them. When I listen to "I Believe (When I Fall in Love)" I think, "Matthew Ward would sound great singing this!" Check it out, there are videos on YouTube of that one. I actually think Matthew sings better (but I LOVE Stevie).

  • that last comment was suppose to be a reply to you, but I think I did it wrong..hehe Youtube is confusing at times.

  • I agree. I saw him live with his sisters; 2nd Chapter of Acts. They all came out and performed for a while, then he came out alone and did his solo stuff, and they all came back out and performed again for the last part of the show.. it was so powerful.

  • He is one of the best singers I have ever seen live for sure. His live singing was so powerful and seemingly effortless. His music was among those who taught me that Christian music didn't suck (putting in the words of the teenager I was back then). God bless MW and his family, they have reached numerous people in need of the gospel.

  • He does have a Stevie Wonder feel to his voice. I've always thought that. It's the soulful ease.. it's like his voice just weaves through the music. Amazing gift.

  • Love his voice so much. I hope I can sing like that when I get to heaven! :)

  • Thanks for posting this! Matthew's solo albums are amazing! What a voice!!

  • Hehe, never thought about it but if Stevie had a more rock style he would sound a lot like this.

So glad to see Matthew Ward and 2nd chapter again. Thanks for posting.
