@gwxk A reporter asked the guy from the band if big pink was influenced by procol harum he said we thought that guy soundeed like percy sledge " when a man loves a woman she turns a whiter shade of pale"
As very, very young hippie, I found that this song was out of stile next to all the psycadelic - simply coun´t understand what made them play like that! But the sound af the song came back one morning as I woke up. Have´nt been aware of how much I loved this song, all trough the years.
@rusticization The instrumentation is the same --- guitar, bass, drums, piano and organ; but The Band were originally called The Hawks and they started in the early 1960s. They developed their sound for many years before recording their first album as The Band. Both "Shine On Brightly" and "Music From Big Pink" were released in the same year -- 1968. I doubt if The Band had spies flying from Canada to England to eavesdrop on Procol Harum's recording sessions.
I thought this was called Wishing Well
