'Angela Gheorghiu's Romanian Journey' follows international soprano Angela
Gheorghiu on a personal journey back to her homeland of Romania.
The film documents her wish to make Romanian music better known and
features Angelas visit to the extraordinary painted churches of Moldavia.
She joins the Romanian Choir Madrigal under their celebrated conductor Marin Constantin to sing spiritual music from the Christian Orthodox tradition in which she grew up.
Angela Gheorghiu says: The whole project is very special for me. It has
to do with the story of my whole life, and everything that I heard and
learned as a child. I started to sing when I was seven. I was in the choir
in the church. You need to understand that in the Orthodox Church in my
country we do not have the organ or any other instruments playing for
the service. Only the voice the choir and the soloists provide all the
music.
