Possibly, although we certainly didn't do much to help a peace process (we much preferred to have them kill each other).
Keep in mind that Khomeini and the rise of Iranian fundamentalism to power was an outcome of the CIA coup of 1953 and the subsequent decades-long tyranny of the Shah (backed by us).
