The planet Venus reflects a crescent shape, just like a crescent Moon during 1st quarter. The visible bottom of Venus faces the Sun after sunset, while the dark side of the planet makes the difference between night & day on Venus, the division between daylight & darkness seen in the crescent shape of the setting planet's reflection. Easily seen at 40X through an eyepiece, testing to video record the crescent shape took special effects with higher magnification (200X) , gamma S-video CCD settings, and resolution enhancing aperatures/filters.
