Youtube will probably yank this but I just had to post it. The movie isn't available on dvd. It's the most amazing authentic fallout shelter related scene I have ever seen in a movie. The shelter supplies even play a role in the scene. The sign on the wall in the background says something about Ambassador Hotel. I really don't think this is a set mainly because if the massive amount of shelter supplies and you can see the water barrels were placed upon boards that were placed on the floor. If the supplies were dragged in and placed in a set I don't think that detail would have been added.

  • VERRY COOL!! They definitely don't make movies (or actors) like this anymore.

Would love to see what the sign read in the background. Thanks for posting this find!

  • I love everything about this. The suits, the lighting, the camera work... every frame a perfectly-composed B&W photo. No hokey background music. No moronic, dumbed-down dialogue packed with references to pop culture. I love the period 1945-1965. Cold War and all, this era was the high point of American civilization. It was as good as it ever got, or is ever likely to get, for the human race.

  • @el1998p71 Yeah. The barrels are empty. The stack he bumps into almost goes over and like you mentioned the one he rubs is definitely empty. Of the supplies I have seen still in shelters over the 30ish years that I've been into this nonsense most water barrels were empty.

  • @Alizara75 I doubt that they were filled, I can rub my finger on one of my own CD barrels and it make the same noise. Plus when the one guy bangs on the cans near the large sign they sound empty.

    That is really awesome find.

  • It looks pretty legit. For one thing, the barrel was full of water...you could tell by the way it sounded when he ran his finger down it; I doubt a movie set would go to that length. Also the labels on the boxes of rations were correct. 'Survival crackers'. Ugh. Imagine living on a diet of those and water...

  • Cliff Robertson just died a few days ago. A quality actor. RIP Sir, you will be missed, but your efforts will go on forever.
