台灣民政府華府四季酒會TCG cocktail party at 4 Seasons DC

Mr. Chairman, Distinguished Guests, we have met here for a consecrated purpose. We shall here acknowledge the opening of TCG office in DC. Ten years ago probably none of us here tonight know what the TCG is. We thank Jeff Geer's article "From Grotius to WTO" first released in 1999 leaded us to the study and research of Taiwan Status. We acknowledge Richard Hartzell 's research paper, "Uncovering the Truth of the Taiwan Status" published on February 19, 2004 in the Harvard Asia Quarterly. We thank Michael Richardson, Taiwan Policy Examiner of Examiner.com traveled to California and Taiwan in 2009 and 2010 sharing us "The U.S. unfinished business in Taiwan" and "American failure to protect Human Right in Taiwan: Past, present and future". We acknowledge Dr. Cheng Chung-Mo's leadership guiding the restructure of TCG. For this evening, we are deeply indebted to the man who led us to this gathering, he is the founder, organizer, architect and the Secretary-General of today's TCG, Dr. Roger Lin. Unfortunately, Dr. Lin is not here with us. Because he does not have a proper travel document, he still lives in the political purgatory Taiwan. On his behalf I want to read you a letter from him. My name is JH and I am the CEO of the TCRLO, HQed in SFBA, CA. Ladies and Gentlemen, Here is Dr. Lin's letter.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Please accept my apologies for my inability to attend the Cocktail Party at the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington D.C., on the evening of Sept. 8, 2010. I am unable to travel outside of Taiwan at this time because I do not have a "passport."

My international legal research of the past five years has convinced me that Taiwan does not belong to the Republic of China. Please be aware that neither the San Francisco Peace Treaty of 1952 nor the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979 nor any Executive Orders issued by the US President recognize that the Republic of China is the legal government of Taiwan. Additionally, the Three Joint Communiques of USA-PRC have never recognized Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan.

Roger C. S. Lin, Taipei, Taiwan, September 1, 2010
Now let me propose a toast to Dr. Lin. The combat mission on Iraq has been ended. We hope he can join us anytime soon. Cheers!! Thank you very much.
