Don't know, but it's been used in so many movies, that I think the studio who made Distant Drums is probably affectionately not suing everybody who uses it...

I'd love to hear the history of another oft-used stock scream, which some people call the "Howie Scream" (after Howie Long in "Broken Arrow").

You can hear the difference between the two screams in the vid "NOT THE WILHELM SCREAM".
