why do they still use it in serious movies? I can understand its a joke in comedy movies, but why put them in war and action movies?

@CaptCamping One of the Scout's screams is the Wilhelm Scream. Valve actually seems to really like stock sound effects and screams, since they use the Star Trek/Doom door-opening noises in Half-Life 1, and the Howie Long Scream as the fast zombie roar in Half-Life 2.
