During minimally invasive radioguided parathyroid surgery (MIRP) or mini surgery, Drs. Norman and Politz use the radioguided probe to measure the parathyroid hormone levels NOT to localize the tumor. The probe measures the amount of parathyroid homone being produced from the parathyroid glands. The parathyroid tumor has higher measurements than a normal parathyroid gland.
