I have bought this 500GB model and have NO problems transferring more than 1GB at a time. I will not use the MioNet remote software as I found a firmware upgrade activating SSH access, just haven't had the time to try it yet.

What made you think yellow type on a light blue background was a good choice? lol.

the network access feature wont work with the NTFS file system... i think thats the case on most of these nas devices.

are you sure that your problem is this apparent 1GB limit you are experiencing, i have the same product, and the only drawback i found was the limitations on file size as a result of the fat32 file system being used. (with fat 32, the largest file size is 4GB) on top of this, it could be down to a network timout or a problem with config of your router, i have this product and its worked seamlessly, i havent encountered any of your problems. one last note, dont try format to ntfs-wont work!!!

I have the 500GB single drive model and mine seems fine, no faults at all!
The only problem I have had is with MioNet but I just disabled and uninstalled MioNet and mapped the network drive and im quite happy with it!

I bought the 1Tb single drive version on amazon. I never opened the CD that came with it. I plugged it into my router and it was happy. I have 5Gb movies on the WDWE and I haven't had problems. The only thing I found was when I locked up my MacBook Pro it would get disconnected.

I just bought one, and the only problem I am having is acessing files on another hard drive through the usb expanshoin hub on the back, other than that I am happy with the device.
If anyone has any tips plz post...

I just bought a 1TB single drive version to use for my mac book. I thought I made a wrong decision in buying it after i saw your vid especially the transferring part but after i open it works just fine! I think there is a problem with your OS that is causing the trouble. I use mionet thru safari to access my files.

I have a 1Tb one, I have never used the supplied CD and did the simple hack to stop the Mionet client from running on it. I have been happy with mine and have done some massive transfers onto it. So far no problems, I think Western Digital disabled sharing on the internet of some file types to be a bit politically correct. Mine will share whatever I want IF I want. I realise not everyone is into hacking their appliances but it is pretty simple to do with this.....
haxck it, and the problem is solved.

Do we all have to become Linux hackers in order to have this hardware work out-of-the-box?
