Thanks will pass that on to my classmates. Our teacher is very close to retirement and seems to have lost interest in teaching. We appreciate your help

@SharJoyC Hi, it's funny you said that. My daughter-in-law just walked out with the best of the three 'stretched' vases with a bouquet of flowers in it! Yes, I have to do more of those and that way I don't have to worry that the blue is turning green. Thanks a lot for the complement.

@pensandcalls I was just looking at the glazes with blue green/waterfall brn. on the pieces for sale on your website. They are just stunning, that combo is a winner!

@parrotpotterstudio ha ha ha. I have to make more of those vases with the slip until I get it right. I guess a trip to Atlanta is on the agenda. I need some G200 feldspar too for the clear liner glaze in the Mastering Cone 6 Glazes.

@credenza1 Thanks!!!

@stevebootonceramic Thanks, Steve. I never did try double dipping it so that's worth a try. I'll do it on the next firing. It's a very frustrating glaze and becoming one that I just might toss. :o) From what I read, I'm not alone. I

@parrotpotterstudio Thanks Dan! I'm enjoying your videos too! I was also thinking that it was the slip flaking off but last night I went out and checked the vases again and the 'good' one was starting to have the clear glaze flake (shiver) off over the lower part of the vase where there is no slip. Grrrrr. Definitely a bad fit of glaze to clay. The clay I used was some meant more for hand building. Has a lot of sand in it so it might be shrinking a lot less. Gotta get more clay!!!!
We've had that flaking problem in my ceramics class too. Every student is using the same glaze and the pieces are fired in the same batch but some pieces flake and some don't. We are brushing on our clear glaze using the same bisque fired pieces and the teacher's explanation is the glaze that "popped" was applied too thick and caused it not to bond. Does this sound right to you??

@jcrefasi1 > Hi, I responded to your other post on my 'How Dry am I', by the way. I think, from my experiments and reading that your instructor is right on the money. With the clear, it seems that you want it very watery if you're dipping and you dip very quickly. As for brushing, one thin coat should be enough. Don't load it up. I would make the glaze nice and thin and use a wide brush to put a thin coat on with. If it won't spread, add some CMC gum.

I really love the bottoms of your pots! Thanks for sharing this video...it's good to see your kiln openings and how well you tell us your experiences of what's working & what's not! :)

@clearvision5 I had to really laugh that someone finds my bottoms lovable!!!! ha ha ha. We can all learn from our mistakes so, unfortunately, I always have PLENTY to learn. :o) I think it's important to pass on what we learn, good or bad. There just might be someone out there that finds a solution to their problem.
