... 16 inches of rain rocky mountains would flood.... say something nice millions of dollars of damage and lives lost and you say this why you dont build cities near water ..

This is my hometown and we barely got any national attention i was in IL at the time and didnt know there was a massive flood until a week after it was terrible

@Svecenader1 Cities today originated as small towns before looking for a water source. It made sense years ago to build a village near a water source. If that village thrives, it must expand for its inhabitants. Do not act like these victims are in any way responsible for having their homes destroyed. This was called a 1,000 year flood; it was that much more of a flood that the people responsible for flood walls couldn't foresee it. This isn't like New Orleans. They destroyed swamp land.

This is why you don't build cities right next to rivers. This is why you perserve most of the land on the river's and then build near that zone.
