Having just made his biggest splash in Hollywood with the incredible 'Drive,' Nicolas Winding Refn is a director I'm incredibly excited to see getting wide acclaim. Ever since his early features such as 'Pusher' and 'Bleeder,' Refn's films have boasted a dark and suspenseful tone which he has managed to develop and perfect across his eight features. This edition of 'The Works' was an interesting one to cut, since I wasn't familiar with many of Refn's films prior to editing. However I feel that I did justice to the films of one of todays most talented emerging directors.

Who's next you ask? The answer to that is a little bittersweet. Because these next few months will be so crowded for me with school, I'm honestly not sure when I'll be able to release the next edition of 'The Works'.

However, I can provide two positive facts:

1. That this next installment of 'The Works' WILL be released along with other edits I've been planning out in due time.

2. A hint for which director is next: He's Canadian, like me!

  • not your best, too much of a drive only tribute.

  • @fullmetalchamploo There's a reason 'Drive' appears quite often in this tribute. This reason being because I felt that the film blended many of Refn's previous themes and aspects of plot together (the anti hero, the slow dramatic buildup to violence, an individual with specific "talents" being used by a higher power, etc.) I thought that 'Drive' utilized these in a much more compelling fashion than Refn's other work, and in turn, work better for the tribute.

  • 0:49 scared the hell out of me.

  • @Insanel123 That's what I was hoping for ;)

  • Hi! :) I don't know if you're a fan, but if you are, you should consider doing a tribute to Robert Rodriguez!

  • David Fincher should be next :D

  • @heresjohnny1991: Are you a fan of Christopher Nolan? If so, have you already made a "the works" for him?

  • Alfred Hitchcock soon please?

  • Oh my god, what's the second song? I can't find it anywhere.

  • michael mann would be perfect.

  • @thetrooperremade even if his recent movies have been failures (both critically and financially) he still deserves to be recognized.
