We have:
2x M4300's
1x M4400
1x M4500
1x D620
None of them ever failed! Nothing ever had to be replaced!
I don't know what you're doing to you're laptops but you're definitively doing something wrong, especially saying that one M4300 and the M4500 have traveled a lot with me all around the globe. They have also been rendering for several days without any brake at nearly 100% constant cpu stress without failing, guess what would have happened to consumer laptops.

2:50 - The Dell desktop I bought isn't so bad. I got it used (a circa 2008 machine) and the only thing I've had a problem with (beside some funky default BIOS settings and the onboard video card's incompatibility with Windows) is that the fan has gotten to be quite loud.

Dell has tvo construction lines, cheap shit one vhere most of their shit are being made and the better one that makes products to the expos etc. Sorry for the lack of double v, my DELL INSPIRON'S keyboard is fucked and I've had this laptop for about 6 months.

Fuck Dell, they probably use apples at company HQ.

This is obviously a Dell defective parts or problem with the assembled laptop.
For the 3rd repair and still problem, you have a good chance to get a WUR - Whole Unit Replacement.
I have faced a string of different problems with a Precision one after another. Finally I got my WUR.

Have you tried using a bat to play baseball with? :) I have had Dell for 15 years and sold loads to clients and only 2 machines have failed (they weren't mine) One was a Vostro desktop, arrived with a duff drive. And the other was an Inspiron (sold to a plumber with fingers like a bunch of salamis) when the screen failed because he kept poking it.(with his fingers I might add) ;) I currently have 3 Vostro laptops and an M6600 and they are great. Perhaps they send the good ones to UK!

I guess some people are just unlucky. I've never had anything fail on any of my laptops including the Dell ones, with the exception of a hard drive but that was due to dropping the machine. Perhaps they give students the refurbs?

@ogk4life360 thats why you ask mummy and daddy to get you a laptop with a decent processor and enough ram...not one with a celeron and 2 gigs

@Dell0304 agreed on all
Just so you guys know, my latest M6400 is solid. If you do get a Dell, GET THE WARRANTY.

Hi, I also have a M6400 and daaaaamn dude you have bad luck with the hardware, mine came fine, the only issues are with the drivers, on vista there is a small freeze on the mouse and on xp the mic doesn't work, on linux it's great but they don't have all the drivers for linux, the only operating system that works like a dream it's windows 7, never had a problem with it and it was a beta. Really hope you can solve your hardware problems and give it a try.

I am debating a upgrade for compatibility sake, although i have heard Windows 7 is not as bad as Vista. Thanks for watching and posting a comment!
