OK, just one cent of me added... the Surprise was a 28-gun frigate, not 22. :-)

For anyone who makes more Master & Commander videos, they ought to know that HMS Surprise was a 28-gun sixth-rate frigate, and the Acheron was basically of the same class as USS Constitution. That's what made Jack Aubrey's victory so epic; he fought a much heavier, faster, and longer-ranged ship, and took her a prize.

Can you do sea battles on the demo?

oh sure, the joke is on me, I'm taking it too seriously, I know it -- I've read the entire series three times over the years, and enjoy getting into nautical tactics of engagement - but sure, it's a game, and they're novels --
still, for more realistic game play these ship simulacra should work per rules of sailing - they're powered by wind not steam so they shouldn't be able to go in endless circles - so " the weather gage" etc would make a difference - more skill needed :)

@SupernalOne 1 year old comment, however you took it to seriously, it's a game not a simulator
-
hey my demo isn't like that... i just can do tutorial and a battle... ??
-
Oh, I wish there was a game made after the movie. Does anyone of you guys know a game with its priority on naval battles?
-
where did you get the demo
-
In my Empire Total Wat I use Acheron and Surprise as a third rate ship of the line
is cool

HMS Surprise would never have been able to take out the mainmast of a Constitution class frigate with one broadside.

@Tsarevna303 I actually happen to have both Empire and Napoleon, so if I wanted to do such a thing, I'd probably just play Napoleon, though neither is installed at the moment. (They were too distracting during NaNoWriMo, so I took them off, but I haven't gotten the time to reload them yet.
I can mod certain things for Sims 1&2, but beyond that, I've never really had much interest in doing so. (Most other games don't require decor that actually matches...)
-
@Tsarevna303 I'm not the one who made it, and I wouldn't mod games even if I had the necessary software. I was merely pointing out that the easiest way to do something in the Napoleonic Era would be to use the game set in said era.
looks very cool - -but ... no pair of square-rigged frigates could go in circles like that; one or the other would lose headway and fall off, possibly exposing the vulnerable stern in the process like at 3:50 -- bad move, you have to close with the enemy and board eventually, these short-range cannonades aren't even taking out any rigging - ha, the larger frigate is heeling over - so, these guys were shooting to sink, not to take as a prize? Doesn't sound like Aubrey...
