Papaw saved my life (and my final grade!) my Senior year of College. One of the many times that man has had my back. To this day, it was one of my many favorite memories with him. This is a short story of my Grandfather's unique friendship with a man he met while serving in WWII and finding each other after. He said that times were different then and people really went out of their way to help a complete stranger. The phone operator in Chicago searched every Alfred Brown in the state until they found him. They've been best friends ever since. My family, and my Grandfather wanted his story to be shared with the Ohio Department of Aging War Era Story Project. Thank you for letting him be a part of this with all the other many amazing individuals of that time.
