Alex,
I agree with the idea that people do need something to reaffirm the exist and are 'ok' and all, but gay pride parades don't tend to do that very well. If anything, gay pride parades will scare people off. Whereas a lot of people will keep their fetishes and stuff to themselves, gay parades tend to flaunt them a little much. Like for instance all that leather stuff.
As a note, I'm gay, though I think the parades are bad.
