Really nice stuff... didn't Lonnie play in drop D though?

There's much debate about this but the majority goes for drop G, because of the absence of audible open 5th string in A when playing V chords and the opposite when playing IV chords.
Sadly, noone cared to ask Lonnie during his discovery years between 1958-1970.
Around 1937 he changed to standard tuning and playing with a flatpick instead of fingerpicking, simply because that style was more appropriate in a band situation.
