Yep, it's a close translation, and yes again, it's pretty silly, but there's a reason for that. This song makes fun of another crowd of that era, the Jovem Guarda (mid/hiclass people playing silly 50s ye ye ye rock and some bossa nova and with their terribly silly lyrics). Mutantes don't identify theirselves like belonging to Tropicalia crowd, but they are more likely to.

@poshbird65 I used to think the song was about the need to wake up to the millions of little practical things in life, the need to grow up, taking one's head off the clouds, so to speak... I was told it is instead an ironical comment on the million little crappy things that publicity makes us believe are essential to our lives, to make us suppose we're civilized and happy. Both may be wrong, not everything in the lyrics adjusts to either theory.
