Sin separates us from God. The psalmist wrote: "If I had cherished sin in myh heart, the Lord would not have listened."

Justice was far away from God's people BECAUSE their sin was great. The LORD looked for someone to intervene for His people but there was no one, so the LORD took upon Himself the work of salvation.

God's glory WOULD RISE UPON ZION and the nations were going to come to the light of the LORD which would shine from Zion. God says an amazing thing: The nations would rebuild Zion's walls AND bring their wealth to Zion.

Isaiah 61 begins with the words Jesus spoke in Nazareth when he was given the Book of the Prophet Isaiah. "The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor."
