Use the treats your cat loves the most. Start with putting his paw on the treat bag, then put the cat's paw in your hand before getting the treats. Use the word shake or paw every time you do it, or any word you would like associated with paw, shake, whatever. How long, well, it depends on how much time you put into it. Have fun.
