This was the first grant into the country and as such was used fof testing, first it went through automotive testing and was then sent to the ranges to test the tanks resistance to panzerfaust. It was eventually replaced with a centurion and was abandoned for 25 years when it was dicovered, rescued and restored to its present condition where the owners intend to keep it.

  • why is it a grant? I thought it was the m3 Robert E. Lee?

  • @FreeTh1nk3r the original design had a taller turret and when the british bought them they had a lower turret fitted and called it the grant, latter on they used the original american design and called it the lee

  • wtf is this?

  • @181jose 25 yrs of sitting out in the english rain

  • Amazing that they could get it to run after all these years...note the 37mm gun is bent...

  • they had to get a new gear box and transmission from a Ram and refurbish it

  • A grave for 5 blokes(The Lee) or a grave for 5 brothers.(M3)Lend Lease.

  • cool old machine

  • Эта М3 Lee

  • @FreeTh1nk3r - You are correct. It IS a British M3 Lee. You can tell be the turret which has been enlarged for radio equipment. It is NOT an American M3 Grant.

  • If any of you have ever played World of Tanks(WOT) then you will probably end up hating this tank because you dont get to use the 37 on the 75 howitzer :/ other than that its really cool

  • @harry4468 The Lee had a machinegun mounted in a turret on top of the 37mm Turret.

  • @FreeTh1nk3r It was called the Lee-Grant, not sure why tho...

  • The first version of M3 contains 3 turrets that can be seen in War Movie Sahara.
