I think it may still be used for fire calls also, but not sure about that.

@CrazySirenBoy We have in Brownsville, Tennessee a very very old 3T22 that hadn't been used over 20 years until 3 years ago.

@CrazySirenBoy That's awesome. I didn't do much research on that because I figured most mountain towns wouldn't have sirens. But now all we need now is for Manitou Springs to noon-whistle their 550-AT...

There's a number of towns that noon test still. Steamboat Springs used to have a 2T22 everyday at noon, but they stopped a year or two ago and switched to a steam whistle. Ouray still goes at noon and some scattered mountain towns here and there do also.

There is also an old 3-phase Darley siren, either a Model 3 or Model 5 inside, on the other side of town. It is hooked up to a rotary phase converter and was set to activate with the SD-10, but when I went over there, it was switched to OFF.
