George Duke, born in 1946 in San Rafael, California, is a jazz piano and synthesizer pioneer and singer. He first made a name for himself with the album "The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with The George Duke Trio." Duke has also been fairly visible in the R&B world thanks to funk gems like "Reach For It" from the 1977 album of the same name. This channel is dedicated to all the great 'old school' R&B music I grew up with, the stuff that originally made me tap my feet and want to be a DJ. Funk, soul, disco, R&B, dance, hip-hop, pop . . . 60s, 70s, 80s . . . whatever you call it, it's all 'Old School' and it's all here!

  • @fanofprotopic For years, I thought is was Bootsy, mainly because of the voice doing the rap-riffs. The bass player is a guy name Byron Miller, who plays in Pasadena, CA., weekly. He has a jam session every week.

  • @ChocolateBeautyQueen No. He's alive and well, and just did a week of concerts at the Catalina Bar and Grill in L.A., CA.
