George Szell conducts Brahms' Symphony #4 in E minor, Op.98, with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra; recorded in 1968, re-released in 1991.

Movement 1, Allegro non troppo.

  • What a fabulous recording of a great work by a great orchestra conducted by one of the greatest conductors of the 20th. century. Geoge Szell was one of many great Brahms enterpreters and one who proves that a Brahms score is like clay: to be shaped and whose beauty only comes out in the hands of the master sculptor. Karajan, Toscanini, Boehm, Klemperer and Szell all great Brahms enterpreters. I need to listen to this again but I think this is the one is exceptional. Wonderful.
