GOLD - sounds smoother, bassier, not as gainy but very transparent

SILVER - sounds brighter, crisper, louder, and gainier, treble has a nice sizzle to it

***as always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay***

These are not the original KLON pedals! These are KLON/SIBERIA pedals. Both of these have identical circuits.

The KLON (not KLON/SIBERIA) has an alternate circuit board. Most are now star-owned, and very difficult to find. The real KLON has a more organic, live feel to it! : - ) Definitely better than the KLON/SIBERIA. Most will never experience a true KLON - so my statement may be pointless? Look for #1 through #237 to be sure. I have #236, and it's a true KLON.

The circuits in these two pedals are identical. ONLY THE FIRST 300 OR SO KLON PEDALS HAD AN ALTERNATE CIRCUIT DESIGN. This is like comparing apples to apples... Any difference between these two pedals is due to potentiometer variances only.

Bill Finnegan is a master craftsmen regardless of what is said about the hype of pedal. I own a silver Centaur and I couldn't be happier. Impeccable build and a beautiful piece.

I've spoken with Bill several times. The pedals are the same internally and neither has cheaper internal components or should be any different. Electronic parts do have a variance (plus moreso once heat is applied). Unless you measured the pot settings exactly, they might sound slightly different. The difference is the case- nothing else.

Older doesn't always mean better, or even different.
