This is a short clip of me working.. doing what I've done professionally for almost three years. While not without controversy-- applying pesticides helps to protect plants from pathogens and hungry insect pests. This past summer, Phytophthora infestans (aka 'late blight') killed many tomato plants; but none of the ones I treated with conventional fungicides.

  • We use pesticides all over the world and as long as it is not forbidden it should on a video as this one be instructed and demonstrated much more precisely

  • @Betterspraying Thanks for watching and commenting on the video. I'm not sure if you were criticizing it or endorsing it..? Pesticide use is being increasingly restricted and regulated and I think that is mostly a very good thing. Having powerful tools is helpful but they must be used judiciously and with great care. It will be good to find new ways of producing food efficiently and sufficiently, while becoming better environmental stewards of our planet. cheers!

  • Yes maybe you have saved some tomatoes that year, but you are destroying the planet.. The pests are going to build imunity soon anyway. At the end we will all be happy to eat the bugs, nothing else will grow in this poisoned environment!

  • @mordaniela Your commentary is reasonable and I agree with your sentiment that pesticides are often harmful to the environment. We need to find ways of producing large quantities of food without poisoning the planet.. and I want to help with that effort, not obstruct it. Thanks for watching the video and sharing your response.

  • Sorry - it is tomatoes

  • Looks as I have started this debate. I have spend most of my life in reducing dose when applying PPP.

So looking at this video - the operator well geared up - I see the operator having an awful distribution of spray liquid. That does not help on the efficacy of the pesticide no matter how well it works. I would recommend a flat fan nozzle - perhaps 2 - to cover the entire hedge of vine row - and only move the lanse in one direction. Then you will also be more spot on with your calibration.

  • this is awful for the environment. The spreading of these pesticides contaminate the food, the lakes and the water table deep in the earth. This should not be allowed. This is the reason that the earth is so polluted.

  • and the you eat it yum

  • Wow, that's crazy. You have to wear that full gear and everything. That must be some strong stuff.
