This is my submission for the Ghosts film festival. I rendered this in 1920x1080. When I heard Ghosts 13, I saw neon tubes drawing themselves in time with the music - pretty much exactly what you see here.

Excellent, i have been looking for something to do this with to my music for a long time, you say you did this in After Effects, any chance of an explanation/tutorial on how?

There is a short story by Jeff Noon in the collection 'Pixel Juice' (IIRC) where he describes a kind of art made possible by a technology involving direct manipulation of the artist's mind. He openly wonders how many artists existed prior to the advent of the technology that lived their lives in silence, their only crime was being born at the wrong time.
Just start experimenting. You'll find your voice.

Really, really nice. I'd be interested to know how you made the animated neon. After Effects?

Yeah, After Effects. My first thought was to use Particular to draw the tubes, but that was way too expensive (rendering time) and heavy-handed for what I wanted to do, so I simply animated the stroke effect and added a colored glow.
