@Gayalert69 Actually it isn't a tradiional song - or even totally Scottish. The tune is traditional and Scottish but the words were written by an Englishman called Sir Harold Boulton.

Roger Whittaker!!!!!!! This a classic performance of a classic Scottish traditional song by one of the greatest Scottish female singers to emerge from the world of folk music. Poor old Rog is not even in the running. Sorry!

My Scottish Grandmother used to sing this to me every single day when I was a kid. Does anybody know where to buy the song? I can only find instrumental.

Barbara's version is available on two of her compilation CDs which are still available - "The Barbara Dickson Collection" and "January February - The Best of Barbara Dikson".
