  • Middle French.....that's the language, sort of of Medieval French, but the northern, Parisian version. Awesome that people still sing exactly in that language. Just awesome.

  • @cooltoshaftw You should check out Qntal, Helium Vola, Faun and Estampie, all sings songs in this old dialect.

    I'm sure there's a few others, but those are the ones I know ;]

  • I don't understand what this means?

  • that is french...

    À Chartreux et à Celestins,

    À Mendians et à Devottes,

    À musars et claquepatins,

    À servans et filles mignottes,

    Portans surcortz es justes cottes,

    À cuidereaux d'amours transis,

    J' écrie à toutes gens merci.

  • It's a ballade written in 1461 by a french poet, François Villon 1461. So it's medieval french and he is asking pardon to all kind of people (monks, whore, etc.)

  • THIS is a band i'd want to be in!!!

  • 3 of 3 But not the thuggish treacherous dogs who gave me but the odd stale scrap of rock-hard bread on which to dine, so that not three turds could I crap. A fart or belch would fill the gap but, seated, I can’t anyhow! OK - a riot I won’t tap. I must of all ask pardon now. (x2) I hope they get their ribs well-bruised with hefty mallet, heads to bow, with lead shot knocked about and used. I must of all ask pardon now. (x2) end
  • continued

    To whores who let their tits hang out

    to boost their clients’ interest;

    to bouncers, roisterers who shout;

    to jugglers showing their chits the best

    of tricks; the mad, the soaks, the rest

    who, six-strong, stroll about - and how!

    to monkeys, dolls, dressed or undressed -

    I must of all ask pardon now. (x2)

    (2 b con't)

  • In English: To Carthusians and Celestines;

    to wandering friars and devotees;

    to dawdlers and fops whose pins

    drum in the streets; to tarts like these

    whose skirts and topcoats show their knees;

    to fancy lovers, taking a bow

    in boots of tan leather which strangely please:

    I must of all ask pardon now. (x2)

    to be continued...
