Lahaina shores "Resort" in Lahaina Maui. This is a video of our room at the Lahaina Shores. We left for breakfast and returned to the room because we had left our guidebook in one of the bags. When we entered the room we realized that we had left the video camera on, on accident. As we were deleting the video, we realized that there was not only someone on the video touching our things, but she was, upon closer inspection, USING THEM!!! She used make-up after she cleaned the toilet, poured mens cologne down her pants and in her shirt, picked her nose profusely and even had the audacity to use our Q-tips to clean her damn ears!! We were appalled to say the least, filed a police report, the whole deal. The cops were laughing so hard and they kept telling us to replay the tape over and over because they couldn't believe it.

We, of course, contacted management who played the "i'm not the person you need to talk to....call this person instead" game. They refused to move us to a different room, they just pushed us to the side and made it seem as if WE were the ones who had done something wrong. At the end of it we were scared something else might happen because all the maids in the hotel were coming up to us asking why we got their friend in trouble and asking us which room we were staying in now ( because after HOURS pleading with the front desk we FINALLY got moved). We wound up leaving the hotel 4 days (3 nights) early. We called and asked for a refund for the nights we had stayed, we even wound up getting a lawyer and the whole nine yards, but to no avail ( because the lawyer couldn't practice in Hawaii). We wound up staying at a beautiful place (the most beautiful in Maui) I won't name names because I know I will get the inevitable "you're trying to promote other hotel" comments on here, anyway THEY took really good care of us, and we had a magnificent time with them.

At the end of the day the thing that made us the most upset was this trip was for our 6 year anniversary, we had been planning it for 2 years and this really made us not want to ever go back to Maui. It was weird and unsettling that when we went to go have lunch after things had sort of settled down one of the waitress' asked us of we were O.K. and I told her what happened, and she told me word for word" Be REALLY careful where you go and who you tell that story to for the rest of the time you are here, because this Island is small and everyone knows everyone. Make sure no one is following you when you are driving,be careful of the cops too". We sat there astonished! She was a 100% local Hawaiian woman and she was dead serious. Funny thing was when we went to the next hotel the waitress at the restaurant they had on grounds told us the SAME THING!!!

What's worse is that we STILL haven't been refunded the money for the nights we didn't stay in the hotel, every time we call to speak with Fred Mayo (the "Hotel Manager" who claimed we set his very valued employee up to do this!!) he is on his lunch break, or in a meeting, or out of the office. Convenient, right? He didn't even want to come down to speak with us the day it happened, we were standing there with the police in our room writing reports and he called back to say that it was his day off and " could you guys wait until I get in tomorrow afternoon to talk about this" Seriously! I mean come on!

What makes all of this worse is I WORK IN A HOTEL!!! So I know very well how the system works when it comes to these situations, and we are at the VERY LEAST entitled to the money from the nights that we didn't stay in the hotel!! We were reimbursed by the insurance company (Island Insurance), NOT THE HOTEL, for the damaged property. But, the insurance company and the hotel are two separate entities and when we spoke with management of Island Insurance he explicitly explained to us that they were not responsible for anything to do with the nights we weren't reimbursed for, I even have a certified letter from the management at Island Insurance proving that they have nothing to with the hotel side of things.

Thanks and be careful next time you go to a hotel, you never know what happens when you leave your room. Imagine if we hadn't left the camera accidentally on we would have never known that she was putting on makeup and rubbing cologne down her pants and in her bra!!!

There is a whole range of QUALITY of employees in this industry as in any other. I can't believe this behavior is a shock to so many people. How naive to expect a person who lives on the poverty line not to snoop and sample when they have access to your cool stuff - even when supposed to be working. The story of a camera "accidently" left on is so transparent as to be laughable. I smell a good way to get free lodging. For believability, accidently leave the camera on it's side next time.

omg! I was looking for a place to stay that was nice in Maui! Ewwwww how terribly gross & invading of one's personal property! Def. fire the cleaning lady should be in order! Lahaina would never get my stay after seeing this! I would have my money returned also for that invasion! Awful!

I own a cleaning company. She would be fired immediately. How disgusting. She has no right to do any of this in there...oh so gross.

she is really doddling..too slow needs to pick up the pace ..I wouldnt want to work with someone like that..Iam telling you people not all housekeeping staff in hotels are like this...most of us work very hard with a great deal of respect for guests..

Iam sure she is a nice lady with a family and all that ..BUT..she should be waaaayyy more professional..
