This is our Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge's in Alameda, CA 4th Annual Luau experience 2011 and let me tell you folks, it doesn't get any better than this!

You'll get to view here my mini documentary of the 4th Annual Luau and some of the features that day and evening all summed up in about ten minutes!

Sadly, I missed the lovely, master mixologist Suzanne Long blowing her conch shell to start the days festivities. Here is my partial list of what's included in this doc:

A daytime, scrumptious pig roast with, all the classic, familiar Luau trimmings catered by Chop Bar, Oakland http://www.oaklandchopbar.com/

There was also a live Tiki carver on the premisses that day which I captured on film who, had a way with Tiki wood sculpture.

Live 'n' swingin' Hawaiian music of the Faux Hawaiians navigates us through the documentary as we end up outside listening to them play "Little Grass Shack" you can check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/fauxhawaiians

The Tahiti Nui Dance Troupe did some exceptional hula dancing which you'll love! There was also audience participation with a hula lesson however, I could not have squeezed this into my ten minute doc.
Here's their link: http://www.myspace.com/nuitahiti

There was also (but not included in this video) a Ukelele jam session and clinic outdoors by Tiki King here's his link: (http://www.ukulelesoffelton.com/) he operates a Ukelele store in Felton, Ca.

Rats, I missed this! There was a fabulous drink demonstration from what I heard that was given by the lovely, talented, master mixologist Suzanne Long. Also, this part of the event was sponsored by Mount Gay rum.

Also, I wasn't able to capture the stunning Melissa Grüenhagen in the Ku Bar out back serving up her exotic drinks to many a pleased patron. I guess I spread myself a little to thin that day.

DJ Fitz spun groovy retro tunes inside the lounge which kept everyone grooving into the day through the night, thanks Fitz!

In the evening I captured an amazing live fire dancing performance by Fire Pixie! Here's her link: http://www.firepixie.com/

And finally, did a two camera shoot of a SoCal Hula/rockabilly band, Ding Dong Devils who played to a packed house that evening, doing their theme from "The Belly Dancers of Bali Bali" this is some sweet Tiki garage exotica surfabilly lounge that you'll love! Here's their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dingdongdevils .

Thank you Forbidden Island, Michael Thanos, Denise Thanos, Will Viharo, Suzanne Long, Melissa Grüenhagen, Susan Eggett, james Eggett, etc.

Aloha!

I Christopher Sorrenti shot this with a Sony DVCAM PD-1 camcorder, if you're not familiar with that camera it is the size of a paperback book! and great for stealthy undercover shooting! I also edited this mini documentary to ten minutes from more than 45 Minutes of fabulous footage!
