Pikes Place hates FISH philosophy?

I think that the Fish Philosophy is a joke. This guy in the video is right on. Trying to mimic the morale of this fish market is a farce. If employers want to create morale, they should do it from the top down. Trying to get workers to buy into a system that they're not willing to exemplify is a crock.

The guy in the video says the original video was faked and "made up" but the guys in the background are carrying on, and shouting just like the original video. They ARE doing what was in the original video. So... what's this guy talking about? I can HEAR them in the background.... SIlly

What a bunch of crybabies commenting on here. Original video was fun. World would be a better place if everty one took something from this and then had a coke, a smile and shut the fuck up.

.. I'll try again. -.- The FISH! vid is fun, and all they say is, make fun. You spend most of your time at work, so make that a fun time. You can choose to spend the day beeing grumpy, or make the best of it with collegues. And if people start using the FISH! vid as some holy bible, that's their problem, but it has nothing to do with the message the fish guys try to tell in the vid.

There is always the case of over doing it. The Fish! vis

We HAVE to teach this to the kids at my school as of 8/7/11. We have to have FISH little plastic fish around our necks, we have to try to see who gets the MOST fish. Our district office has a RIF rubric so you have to EARN POINTS for your job. There's no seniority in AZ, you have to give your life over to them. I have to volunteer for points. You're penalized if you take your sick days too. And yet I am supposed to come to work all smiles every day. Education is about money and fads.

I have visited the market, been through the training, read the books, and have seen the changes incorporated into a daily workplace environment. The FP can and does transform organizations, but it requires intelligence and buy-in. Just like ALL humans, people have bad days. You can't expect someone to be chipper 24/7. Stuff WILL get to us. In John Yokoyama's book (which I bought @ the market for $15, not $22) he details how it's a struggle that requires daily work. Just like EVERY organization.

I was a teacher when this Fish! stuff was popular. We were forced to watch it, praise it, read it and constantly saw pictures of fish everywhere in the schools.
Did it have an effect? Yes it did. Our workplace became worse and full of backstabbers. Aside from being forced to resign, I could not look at, mention or especially eat anything that had anything to do with fish without feeling horribly nauseous. Even those goldfish crackers made me sick.
Fish! Philosophy=Clockwork Orange
Dude! Sweet! I love how I post this video absentmindedly months ago, I come back, and people are having thought out intellectually debate about workforce motivations. The internet is awesome.
