  • Great dance but this song just does not go with it to tell you the truth. but i see what u are trying to do, to take a new spin on things:P... the dance is great but get the original hopak song and it would be even better!!

  • @104stefan I think the dancing is a great interpretation for the music. The song is ( Під копитом камінь тріснув). Maybe it should me named after the song... . Hopak itself is a specific medley as you say, and also Hopak is a song with its own words. Hopak should not only be danced, but also backed up with a choir in order to do it properly. The last time I saw it done with a choir was by Veryovka and also the Red Army Choir and Dance Company. Contact on Facebook "Selo Ukrainian Dancers"

  • @LightOnTheDarkness For sure i agree.

  • @104stefan Check out some of their other dances on my channel... they really are an upbeat and zippy bunch of young serious mature dancers. I 'll send you another dance to see what you think of it... give me a moment.

  • As a traditionalist this is not 'The Hopak' .It is a upbeat modern interpretation which is something that happens with all dances, dance choreographers and young groups wanting to make their mark. The moves and 'tricks' are of the Hopak and naturally, so are the costumes. There it ends I think. To call it 'A Hopak' is not incorrect ,and that may cause some debate also, but it is like dancing 'Swan Lake' in tutu's to jazzed up Tchaikovsky. I like it for it's novelty and strengths ,don't get me wrong.

  • Well, they dance
