CHRIS BARBER leads his 11-piece band, with its 7-strong front line, playing a wide selection of his favourite music: from his roots in New Orleans style in "Bourbon Street Parade" (still his signature tune) to the early music of Duke Ellington ("Black & Tan Fantasy" and "Jubilee Stomp")....and Sidney Bechet ( "Petite Fleur") and further on to blues by Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee ("Cornbread, Peas and Black Molasses") on to soulful blues like Miles Davis' "All Blues"..........and probably back to "When the Saints"!

  • Hoi Bert, dat was wel erg mooi om te doen denk ik. Klinkt geweldig.

    Johan.

  • @Banjohan Hallo Johan, het was super! In mei ga ik weer met ze spelen in Engeland.

  • You could hear, in embryonic form, so much of what Ellington would go on later to produce in his music, in this one song, originally recorded in 1930. I couldn't even BEGIN to count the references!

  • @JCJasion Ellington is simply my favourite composer! Working within te jazz tradition and looking forward at the same time.
