Ben Sewell here from the Waitara Railway.Thanks for posting this video! Your always welcome down here... We run on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from September to May.3 Runs a day - 11am, 1pm, 2:15pm.

Hi there,
Thanks very much, at present we are in New Plymouth on holiday and could be going to Waitara tomorrow to see the old wrecked steam engine.
Is the excursion a regular event or was that a one off, someone said there was steam train excursion that runs in this area, do you know anything about it.

Great video, how much further on did the line go and have you any video of the actual train you were on, love to see it on here.

@madpetrolhead - The Line is about 7km, I didn't take any video of the train but I've loaded a pic of the train to my Flickr site's home page - Youtube won't let me post the URL here but I'm Wheel5800

@muzzavideos - I think it was quite an interesting line, it used to service the freezing works on the right of the video at the start out of view, I'll post some pics to my Flickr site in due course.
Yes I'd love to have seen this branch in it's heydey and at one stage earthworks were created further on with the intention perhaps, of using this as a short way to Auckland
