  • @Digman2012 a big majority of the kids in a middle school jazz band will not even continue playing in High School. 90% do not go home and practice everyday (even though the're "supposed to") because they dont feel like it, and they just do jazz band because they hav a bit of talent, they get to be a part of an extra-curricular group, and for other reasons.

and they hav played their instruments in class (one music class a week) for a year and a half, and played in a jazz band for 4-5 months

  • Experience is no excuse. I've played Jazz for only one and a half years and I can perform the Don Menza original. Only rehearsing once a week is also no excuse since that's the professional recommendation anyways. Spend the rest of the week practicing at home like you're supposed to.

Most of my problems with the song aren't about the poor performance. The lame arrangement, the lack of energy, dynamics or accents, too many performers, and the director's decisions were the main factors here.

  • @Digman2012 u do realize that they hadnt even been playing for 2 years? and they only rehearsed once a week?

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...... No energy. WAY too slow. Too many people. Excessive percussion parts. No high octave trumpet. Big mess up at 1:40-1:50. Saxes didn't stand for soli. Trumpets at 2:20 are just lazy. No dynamics. Arrangement is too easy and flat. Last note was a disaster.

    100% BOR-ING.
