Perhaps one of the most popular stories is that of the Highlands Ranch Mansion and the ghost of Julia Kistler.
In 1926, the Highlands Ranch Mansion was owned by Frank E. Kistler and the property was then known as Diamond K Ranch, according to Caroline Smith, president of the Highlands Ranch Historical Society. She said Kistler divorced his wife, Florence, in 1929 and remarried. Florence moved out with all the childrenexcept daughter Julia, whose love for her father caused her to stay at the mansion. Smith said the story goes that Kistler had two sons with his new wife and did not return his daughter's devotion.
According to the legend, Julia spent many lonely, sorrowful days weeping in her bedroom in the mansion's far western wing. The distressed sobs of her ghost are still rumored to drift among the empty mansion's halls today, Smith said.
