Regular joule thief + crystal core coil to less mA

It's my normal jule thief with a crystal core coil connected on the 2 wire going out from the joule thief toroide. Without the crystal coil i read around 50ma,with or without the led, it don't change a lot. With the crystal core coil and some leds on the other side, i read around 37ma.
It works with a normal toroide too instead of the crystal coil but instead of taking one wire from different side(like normal joule thief), i must take both wire from the same side.
