  • Yall are trippin!

She doesnt sound anywhere near bad enough to not perform. Yes shes not at her best, but she sounds great. Whitney Houstons crack voice, thats bad.

  • basta the sounds ! basta !!! CALLAS IS OPERA ALL THE TIME!!!!! IS FIRE !!!!! THE OPERA IS ''TEATRO'' IS MUSIC, IS BODY, IS DRAMAAAAA,

MARIA CALLAS IS THE BEST SINGER IN OPERA ! THIS IS A GOOD SOUND !!!!

  • @theblueangel28 Hehehe. You said it. Callas' voice is a little shopworn, but from a lifetime of commitment and artistic purpose. Whitney just laid around the house eating Smartcorn with Bobby and smokin' 'da rock. Hehehe. And listen to how the voice warms to red hot passion at "personne n'est près de lui", and from then on it's Vintage Callas. Brava, diva, une fois plus!

  • ASTONISHING, even at this stage of her career!

  • This is still not the worst of her later works. I feel like it also wasn't that bad. I've heard worse from younger singers. That's not to excuse Callas' vocal decline. Again, like I've said elsewhere, the french rep suits her well...even here.

  • Y'all are on crack. Her voice does not sound bad at all here, it is all middle voice and her middle voice is intact. There is no wobble AT ALL.

  • This is not bad all...the middle voice still sounds wonderful, no wobble there like it appeared early on for Joan Sutherland and Mariella Devia and Edita Gruberova!

  • The Montreal concert is, imho, the best of Callas' 1973-74 appearances. The voice shows obvious signs of wear and tear, yet no more than you would expect of a 50-year-old not known, in her youth, for her wise repertoire choices. As for the artistry and dramatic flair that made Callas unique, they are much in evidence in several of the arias and duets, especially in this selection from Werther and in the Carmen and Cavalleria arias.

  • Viardot listened. 'It is like the Cenacolo of Da Vinci in Milan. It is a wreck of a picture, but the picture is the greatest picture in the world.'" And so it is here. Yes, I love this quote. I was very privileged to have been at this concert. Regardless, of what you might think of the voice, she was mesmerizing to watch!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Splendide rovine allora...

  • Una cattedrale crollata....
