About the Cats: Patches and Bug are both my kitties! Patches is currently 7 years old, Bug is almost 3. Bug is notoriously difficult to keep entertained, so I often resort to odd things, such as these micro robots. When Bug is bored he gets himself into all kinds of trouble!

About the Robots: These are both HexBug micro robots. I was given both of them, but you can usually buy them at Radio Shack for about $5 each... The "Cockroach" bug is my favorite. It runs superbly and even rights itself when flipped upside-down. It seems to be pretty durable too! Unfortunately it is small enough for a cat to swallow, which could be deadly. So extreme caution is warranted. The "Epic Fail" bug is actually not too bad of a robot itself. Patches likes it better than the cockroach and she'll actually chase it. Its downfall, however, is that it's very prone to getting stuck. It has spinning wheels that very easily will catch on almost anything. In the video it got stuck on top of a washcloth (how the washcloth got there, I have no idea). It also requires nearly constant maintenance, as things as simple as cat hair can get wrapped around the wheels. The "Cockroach" has no wheels, just little rubber legs.

Warning: These Robots are obviously NOT designed to be cat toys. And both (in part or in whole) could be swallowed by a cat. So I do NOT recommend you try this with your cats. If you do, please PLEASE use extreme caution. Do NOT leave cats unattended with these robots. As you can see in the video, Bug even holds the "Cockroach" in his mouth for a few seconds. That could become problematic if the robot were to shake loose of his teeth and end up in his mouth. Anyways, you get the warning I hope. ;) I'll quit rambling about it now.

The other thing: I know I've been away from YouTube a lot lately, but this doesn't mean I don't get on and check responses and such ;) So feel free to ask questions or whatever you like as long as it's not spam... or rude ;P

  • I should up load one. Cats vs rc drift car. He hates it. He still tries to stand up to it.

  • Hahah, it´s so funny that they´re more amused by it rather than going instinctively into hunter mode, because they´re domesticated cats. ;)

Love them both. :) And love the Cockroach! And Thanks for writing those words of caution! :)
