@CountryMaster16 Not everyone can shell out $1,300 for an L lens. While this guy didn't point out any specifics about the Tamron, the optics are surprisingly good and can rival the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L

@Igorpnd from what? if somethink hits the filter it will properly break it and also do some demage to the lens itself also the uv filter can easy create reflektions between the 2 glass elements and can cause trouble

Very helpful, I persuaded my dad to buy a nice camera, and he gave it to me yesterday. (The Canon Rebel XTi, of course.) Hmmmm, I know a lot about the camera's capabilities alone, but as far as accessories, what do you recommend?

I would recommend a speedlight, nice camera bag, good tripod, extra memory cards. and depending on your shooting, different lenses
