Forest Park FD-Semi Vs. Car with Ejection

A 17-year-old driver was injured after causing an accident on the outbound I-290 expressway near Desplaines Ave. in Forest Park, IL around 10:00 pm on April 27, 2009. The driver of the minivan was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes when he crashed head on with a semi-truck. The teen driver was ejected from the vehicle. The force of the accident ripped the roof of the van and caused the engine to fly out of the engine compartment. Debris was scattered across the expressway as a result of the accident, along with diesel fuel. The truck driver was uninjured, but the driver of the minivan was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL and is expected to survive the horrific accident.
