I wouldn't say that the colonial Spaniards consciously and intentionally caused the smallpox, infectious disease, as they themselves didn't have any idea how the Native Americans were dying. Nor was it systematic, as there was no government supporting the genocide. Rather, it simply spreaded at an uncontrollably.
