I remember seeing this for the first time as a kid. Myself and my mum hated Rose, so we sat, all ready to laugh. When this scene came on, no one said a word. We almost burst into tears ourselves. From then on, we didn't hate Rose. We couldn't.

I never felt the same way about any companion. Rose needed the doctor, she needed a life away from her council estate in London, she needed an adventure-and through it all the Doctor realized he needed her.
