On January 27-28, 2009, northern Arkansas, southeast Missouri and western Kentucky were slammed by a crippling, once-in-a-lifetime ice storm. 1-3" of freezing rain fell across the entire area, bringing down tens of thousands of power poles and leaving millions of people in the dark for days. TornadoVideo.net's Heidi Farrar documented this devastating storm from the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas, and ultimately lost power for two weeks!

  • SOUNDS like FIRE

  • I remember this storm. We were without power for 3 weeks and had to cook in the cold in the back yard over a little kerosene camp stove! Had to heat pot after pot of water on it to bathe in - not good! We Arkansans aren't used to that kind of weather!

  • At least the trees weren't exploding and yes trees explode under extreme cold. I would rather be there than here.
