Yet a bloody historical legacy has dictated that the people of Okinawa, since 1945, have had to share their island with 50 thousand US servicemen.
Today, allegations of rape, and continuing protests against the US presence, has caused diplomatic tensions between two world powers.
This film gives an insight into Okinawan protesters and their struggle against both their own Japanese state and US military power. This year has seen two trials in Okinawa from alleged US rape incidents. The film also hears from figures from the United States community on the island. Many local Okinawans make their living and wealth from the US bases and they do not all agree with the local protesters.

It's not childish. It's been 64 years. ww2 wont repeat itself. Japan cant become great again. Its impossible for it to forge an empire in Asia now with NK and China lurking around. Just let it be independant. I mean... 90000 marines on an island with 700000 people? thats like 1/8 of the people on the island are US servicemen. Locals deserve the peace that was before the war..

My opinion is that maybe the bases should leave. Maybe Japan should form it's own army again. It maybe childish to some but it's my opinion.
