I built this chrono using a atmel avr atmega168 microcontroller and a couple infrared gates. As you can see from the video, it's not perfect and you can miss the sensors if you dont shoot carefully. I think on the next version, I'll use two pairs of gates so that the ball has to break at least one beam at either end of the tube.

Just for extra info, I'm shooting a Tippmann A-5 with an expansion chamber and Flatline barrel.

  • amigo vc tem o esquema eletronico e poderia me passar por favor

  • @newsapo1985 sorry, I don't speak that language (portuguese/spanish?)

  • Excellent. I'm thinking about doing something like this, using IR LED/Transistor pairs I have laying around, some MAN74 displays and one of my old 8085A controller boards. I could easily go out and buy a chrono, but I think this might be more fun.

  • it IS more fun =D

  • Around how much did this cost? And do you think this could be used with say a toy dart gun?

  • I don't know the cost to build one, exactly since I bought some of the components in larger quantities. You could probably get away spending $20 if you know what you're doing.

It would work fine for any kind of projectile that can fit through the tube and isn't long enough to break both beams at the same time.
