This presentation discusses the characteristics of the four generations of students and faculty who currently populate the university. These include the Traditionalists, the Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the Millennials. The focus is on the Millennial students, born after 1981, who now constitute most of our students at Missouri State University.

This generation is the most wanted generation in history. Millennial students are accustomed to receiving a trophy just for participating; consequently, they have been described as praise junkies are used to having adults smooth the way for them. These characteristics present both challenges and opportunities for teachers and advisers who work with Millennial students, which are discussed in the presentation.
